Overview Assistant Golf Professional

  • Lodge 343 Seasonal Position Port Huron, Michigan The Port Huron Elks Golf Club
  • Lodge 343 is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Golf Professional to join our team for the 2026 season.
The club is known for its friendly membership, active tournament schedule, and welcoming community atmosphere. This is a hands-on position that plays a vital role in daily golf operations, tournament management, instruction, and delivering exceptional member and guest experiences. Position Overview The Assistant Golf Professional will work closely with the Head Golf Professional to oversee all aspects of golf operations, including pro shop management, merchandising, event coordination, and member services. This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience in all facets of a private club operation while helping drive a vibrant golf culture at Port Huron Elks. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily golf shop operations including tee sheet management, member check-in, sales, and inventory control. Coordinate and administer club tournaments, leagues, and special events, ensuring a professional and enjoyable experience for all participants. Support and lead instructional programs including private lessons, clinics, junior programs, and ladies' clinics. Promote and assist with merchandising, including product displays, sales promotions, and managing stock levels. Provide basic club repair services and maintain accurate records of work performed. Ensure proper course set-up, handicap posting, and adherence to club rules. Oversee and support outside services, starters, and marshals to deliver high-quality service standards. Act as the primary point of contact when the Head Golf Professional is not on site. Assist in fostering a welcoming and engaging environment for all members and guests. Qualifications PGA Member or registered PGA Associate (or actively pursuing PGA membership) Preferred. Previous experience in golf operations, customer service, and tournament management preferred. Strong knowledge of the Rules of Golf, USGA Handicap System, and Golf Genius tournament software. Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Proficient with POS systems, tee sheet management, and Golf Genius. High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
Position Details Seasonal Employment:
Approximately March 15
  • November 1, 2026.
Schedule:
45-55 hours per week (hours may vary based on the golf calendar, tournaments, and events).
Compensation:
Competitive weekly rate plus lesson income, tournament gratuities, and merchandise sales incentives.
