Job Description
Overview Job Summary The Assistant Golf Professional will directly assist the Director of Golf in all aspects of the golf operation. The main focus of the first assistant will be to administer all golf instruction programs including private lessons and clinics. The successful candidate will have a highly visible presence while going above and beyond to provide a first-class experience for our Subscribers and guests. The Assistant Golf Professional will be actively involved in all aspects of the golf operation.
Experience Required Education:
High School diploma (Bachelor's degree preferred). Completed Level 1 of the PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) program.Required Experience:
The person in this position needs : Experience working in a golf pro shop. 2 Years experience in giving group clinics, junior golf and private lessons. Proficient in Golf Genius Tournament Operations software. Proficient in using golf POS software. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Ability to work mornings, evenings, weekends & holidays as required Knowledge of the game of golf Strong playing skills General computer skills Excellent organization and time management skills Set a positive tone and strong work ethic, leading by example Maintain professional presentation (must adhere to company and department dress code) Outstanding guest service skills Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and in writing Ability to keep all areas of the pro shop neat and tidyPhysical Requirements:
These physical requirements for this position may be accomplished with or without reasonable accommodations. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, and/or move for extended periods of time (approximately 6 to 8 hours), twist at the neck and trunk, bend at the waist and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, reach overhead, above shoulders and horizontally. Employees will frequently use hands to handle objects and move and fold merchandise. The employee must regularly lift and/or move/push/pull up to 30 pounds. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and color vision. Employees may use vision to monitor guests arriving, computer screens and cleanliness of golf pro shop.Work Conditions:
The position will be required to work morning, evening, weekend, and holiday hours. While performing the duties of this job, the employee generally works in indoor environment with minimal exposure to sun and seasonal outdoor hot and cold conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but may be loud dependent on specific work site and/or equipment operation. Essential Responsibilities Essential Job Functions To successfully perform this job, an individual must perform each essential duty listed below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job. Engage with Subscribers and Guests when they enter the golf shop. Work in tandem with our professional staff to make tee time requests, register members for tournaments, assist with special order requests and complete any daily office tasks. Assist with tournament registration procedures on an as-needed basis. Charge all daily play fees (guest fees, cart fees, range fees, etc.) and balance cash daily. Oversee the daily preparation and monitoring of the practice facilities. Assist in any group teaching programs offered during the season. Assists with training, supervision and evaluation of the outside services staff. Provide quality private lessons and group clinics. Provide/Assist golf instruction for Leatherstocking golf instruction programs. Assist the Director of Golf with managing all aspects of the golf program. Provide and interpret golf policies, rules and regulations. Assume the Director of Golf's duties in his absence. Provide Subscribers and Guests with club fitting and golf club repair services. Assist in the coordination of tournaments and special events. Prepare, update and maintain tee sheets and tournament score boards for tournaments and events. Coordinate pairings for Tuesday LWGA and Tuesday Night Men's League. Perform starter or ranger duties as needed. Maintain an attractive, orderly appearance in and around the pro shop, practice facilities and other golf related areas to create a high quality environment. Devote a reasonable amount of time to play golf with Subscribers of all skill levels. Maintain playing ability and work to stay competent in all areas of their game. Represent the Club in area professional events including local, state or national events with the approval of the Director of Golf. Interpret and enforce Leatherstocking's rules and regulations and ensures that the outside services staff is familiar with and enforces these rules. Consult with the Director of Golf about golf course and practice range operations, maintenance and rules. Ensure that all staff are presentable, well-groomed and in established uniforms at all times. Responsible for maintaining a clean, safe working environment, with emphasis on promoting employee health and safety. Follow directives and complete assignments with a minimum of supervision. Attend and actively participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings as needed. Perform all work according to established procedures. Work under the general supervision and direction of the Director of Golf. Direct any employment and personnel concerns to the Director of Golf Avail him/herself, to the best of his/her ability, to directly assist in the furtherance of Subscriber and Guest satisfaction. Always maintain a friendly, hospitable and helpful attitude with all Subscribers, Guests and fellow employees. Any other duties as assigned by the Director of Golf.
