- Seasonal, Full-time Position Overview Oakland Beach is seeking an experienced, customer-focused Golf Professional to lead our golf operations and deliver an exceptional experience for members and guests.
The ideal candidate will combine strong playing credentials with proven leadership, teaching ability, and business acumen. Key Responsibilities Golf Operations Oversee daily golf operations including the pro shop, tee sheet management, pro shop/cart staff scheduling, and starter/ranger coordination Manage cart fleet, practice facilities, and golf services Ensure pace of play standards and on-course experience meet expectations Coordinate with the superintendent and clubhouse staff on course conditions and member events Instruction & Player Development Provide individual and group lessons for members and guests of all skill levels Develop and lead clinics, junior programs, ladies' programs, and player development initiatives Conduct club fittings and offer equipment expertise Tournament & Event Management Plan, organize, and run member tournaments, leagues, and outings Manage handicap services and tournament scoring Coordinate with event clients for outings and corporate golf days Retail & Merchandising Manage pro shop inventory, purchasing, merchandising, and sales Develop seasonal buying plans and control cost of goods Train and supervise pro shop staff Staff Leadership Hire, train, schedule, and supervise assistant pros, shop staff, and outside services team Foster a culture of hospitality, professionalism, and continuous improvement Member & Guest Relations Serve as a visible ambassador for the club Build relationships with members, respond to feedback, and resolve concerns promptly Qualifications PGA of America membership (Class A) or active apprenticeship not required
- but preferred 3+ years of experience as a head or assistant golf professional Demonstrated teaching ability across all skill levels Strong tournament operations experience, including familiarity with Golf Genius, GHIN, and POS systems (MemberSports).
Retail management and inventory control experience Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills Ability to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak season Compensation & Benefits Competitive base salary Lesson and clinic revenue Playing privileges and professional development support
