Athletics Advisor and Certifying Officer, University Athletics Nashville, TN Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Student record keeping Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) Mid-level 3 years Master's degree Bachelor's degree Student advising Data collection Office experience Full Job Description Conduct academic eligibility certification for all incoming (initial and transfer) and continuing student-athletes at Lipscomb University. In collaboration with the Athletics Department, track student-athlete retention and eligibility.
Key responsibilities include:
Serve as liaison between the Lipscomb Athletic Department, Academic Success Center, and the Registrar's Office. All year Collect and maintain data from NCAA Eligibility Center, Office of Admissions, Faculty Advisors, and Lipscomb software including: Campus Nexus, Conclusive, Compliance Assistant, and compliance squad lists to complete eligibility assessments and track admission status for all student-athletes, each term. Beginning of each semester Work with the Office of Admissions staff to verify receipt of transcripts and evaluations of prospective student-athletes (freshmen and transfers) for admission. All year, but mainly over the summer and over winter break Review student-athlete degree completion with attention to: degree program changes, grade changes, repeated courses, changed courses, and remedial coursework. May, August, and December/Jan Calculate Progress Towards Degree for each student-athlete. May, August, and December/Jan Communicate and meet with coaches, academic advisors, compliance, and sport administrators concerning the eligibility status of prospective and current student-athletes. May, August, and December/Jan Perform initial eligibility evaluation of high school/prep school transcripts including assessment of NCAA core curriculum requirements and test scores. All year Participate in continuing education of NCAA rules relative to initial and ongoing eligibility and have working knowledge of NCAA Bylaw 14. June Work with confidential information in accordance with all FERPA regulations. All year In collaboration with theAcademic Success Center Team, advise all student-athletes with junior and senior standing or once a student-athlete's major is declared.Key responsibilities include:
Provide academic advising and support to upper classmen student-athletes, including participation in Student Orientation/Registration events. May, June, July, August, December, January Engage student-athletes in exploratory discussions concerning major, minors, and careers available within particular areas of study. All year Possess a thorough understanding of the University's General Education Program and be able to communicate how the requirements apply to a student-athlete's program of study. All year Keep current on advising requirements and resources by participating in advising development programs to enhance knowledge and skills. As offered Utilize Campus Nexus and Conclusive, as appropriate, to prepare for meetings with student-athletes and to keep records of each meeting including date/time of meeting and content of discussion. As needed Provide degree plans that lay out a course of study for each major and minor (as appropriate). As needed Provide an overview of degree and graduation requirements while also clarifying issues concerning graduation and major/minor requirements. As needed Facilitate the evaluation of transfer courses, including AP credit and Dual Enrollment credit for incoming freshman and new transfer student-athletes towards possible general education credit. All year, but heavy load April-August and December Facilitate communication and approval regarding transfer credits for major requirements with the department chair(s) across campus. All year, but heavy load April-August and December Sign Major/Minor forms for student-athletes for approval of major or minor declaration or change. March, April, May Sign Drop/Add forms for student-athletes to ensure the student-athlete is continuing to meet Progress Towards Degree requirements and maintains full-time status. As neededMinimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree Experience working in Registrar, Admissions, Advising or Compliance at Division I Institution Knowledge of NCAA Rules and Regulations particularly related to eligibility andAPR Preferred Qualifications:
