Position Details Position Information Position Title Athletics Advising Graduate Assistant Academic Year 2026-2027 UIW Mission University of the Incarnate Word is a Catholic institution that welcomes to its community persons of diverse backgrounds, in the belief that their respectful interaction advances the discovery of truth, mutual understanding, self-realization, and the common good. Position Summary Athletics Advising Graduate Assistant responsibilities include, but are not limited to: mentoring student-athletes; assisting Athletics Academic Advisors with the support of student-athlete academic goals, and determining the educational support needs of student-athletes. Essential Functions Assist athletics academic advisors and student-athletes with academic advising issues. Conduct weekly academic meetings with assigned student-athletes. Serve as a point of contact for information and academic referral service to student athletes. Create and maintain Athletics Academic social media platforms and newsletter. Conduct student workshops on student success skills. Assist in collecting data and preparing reports for athletics academic advisors in all aspects of academic support services. Assist in meetings with recruits as needed. Maintain the confidentiality of student records. Other duties as assigned by the director of advising and/or athletics academic advisors. Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to work collaboratively. Strong interest in pursuing a career in athletics academic advising. Ability to plan, develop and conduct training for student athletes. Excellent verbal, written and technical communication skills. Highly proficient with Microsoft products. Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills. Ability to work with professionalism and confidentiality. Organizational skills and attention to detail. Willingness to work evenings and weekends. Willingness to take initiative. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures. Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the conference, and the NCAA . Required Education Current UIW graduate student. Required Work Experience none. Preferred Qualifications Bilingual Experience working with student-athletes Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations None. Work Hours Monday - Friday up to 25 hours per week.
