Position Objective The Bakery Assistant will be a creative, skillful, and detail-oriented professional with an appreciation for preparation, organization, and presentation. The ideal candidate must have a proven track record of preparing and creating delicious baked goods. The Bakery Assistant must have a passion and attention to detail in consistently producing high-quality bakery products. This role is accountable for the quality and consistency of all bakery products, produced from scratch daily. Essential Job Functions Manage production and prepare a wide variety of standard and custom baked goods according to standardized recipes as planned with the Head Baker, and support our farm-to-table concept of using from-scratch recipes and fresh ingredients Mix, bake, build, decorate, fill, and maintain the restaurant's display case with specialty breads, pastries, and desserts Ensure all food is prepared, handled, and stored according to all required food safety code standards Ensure that the bakery is adequately stocked with quality baking ingredients and supplies. Keep all baking areas and supplies stocked and organized, and ensure that baking tools, utensils, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized. Prepare and strategically arrange bakery items in display cases to encourage customer purchases Inspect bakery items to ensure that established standards on quality, uniformity, and aesthetic appeal are met Safely operate and maintain all bakery and kitchen equipment Collaborate with the VP of Hospitality and Chef de Cuisine to create new recipes and seasonal baked goods Work all special restaurant events and holidays as needed (Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, etc.) Work with the Chef de Cuisine to place all supply and ingredient orders Open the bakery each morning and open all POS terminals as needed Greet customers as they arrive in a friendly manner Perform other duties as required by management Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Competences Must have at least 2 years of experience in baking, including dough lamination, sourdough fermentation, baguettes, croissants, and pastries Must be willing and able to learn recipes Excellent verbal communication and positive interpersonal skills required Able to work under pressure and remain calm to resolve problems using good judgment Must have intermediate computer skills; including working with Microsoft Problem-solving skills and deductive reasoning abilities Excellent organization skills and time management skills Strong attention to detail - quality control Must be able to obtain and maintain a current California Food Handler's Certificate Maintain current California Driver's License with satisfactory and safe driving record Able to work under pressure and remain calm Maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance, including adherence to the restaurant dress code Ability to work cohesively with coworkers as part of a team
