Job Description

Plate of Cake is a premium dessert brand known for our tres leches (five flavors, each with its own flavor-matched milk soak), tiramisu, fresh crepes, cookies, and specialty cakes. We're looking for a skilled, reliable Pastry Cook to run our morning prep and production — getting every dessert baked, assembled, portioned, and beautifully displayed before we open at 11:00 AM. This is a hands-on, largely independent morning role. You'll be the person who sets the day up for success: baking fresh, preparing our signature desserts to a high standard, and keeping the line and display fully stocked. Schedule:
morning shift starting around 7:00 AM (we're open to customers 11:00 AM-midnight). What you'll do: Bake fresh daily: cookies (5-6 varieties), specialty cakes, tres leches sponge bases, and brownies Prepare our signature desserts: tres leches with flavor-matched milk soaks, three styles of tiramisu, and crepe batter Mix, soak, assemble, and portion desserts into to-go containers, ready for service Prepare creams, frostings, sauces (Biscoff, pistachio, chocolate), compotes, fillings, and fresh-fruit toppings Defrost and refill topping containers; keep the prep-table fridge stocked and organized Clean, stock, and style the display refrigerator (whole cakes, cheesecakes, cookies) so it stays full and premium-looking Set up the finishing station so the service team can complete each order in seconds Label, date, and store everything to food-safety standards; keep a clean, organized station Track ingredient levels and flag anything running low What we're looking for: Prior experience baking and/or preparing desserts (bakery, pastry, or dessert-shop background preferred) Strong baking fundamentals and consistency batch to batch Comfortable working independently in the early morning An eye for presentation, decorating, and detail Reliable, organized, and able to manage time to hit the 11:00 AM open Food-handler's certification a plus
