Beach Plum Bakery & Café | Beach Plum Farm - West Cape May, NJ Beach Plum Bakery & Café is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Assistant Baker to join our team. Located on our working farm in West Cape May, our bakery is rooted in seasonal ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and a commitment to quality. This is an opportunity to work in a hands-on, collaborative kitchen environment where products are crafted daily with care and intention. Position Overview The Assistant Baker supports daily production in the bakery and café, working both independently and alongside the team to prepare a variety of baked goods. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, and a passion for working with fresh, farm-driven ingredients. Key Responsibilities Prepare and produce baked goods by hand, including quick breads, muffins, cookies, cakes, and pastries, following established and seasonal recipes Assist in reviewing daily production schedules to determine quantity and variety of items needed Organize and prepare ingredients, tools, and equipment for daily baking operations Receive and organize deliveries; assist with inventory and ingredient tracking (ability to lift up to 50 lbs required) Maintain cleanliness and organization of all kitchen workspaces, equipment, and utensils Monitor product quality and ensure proper handling and storage of all ingredients and finished goods Identify and report any issues with food quality, equipment, or supplies Complete production logs and kitchen records as required Assist with preparation of items for special dietary needs when necessary Support the team with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed Qualifications Prior experience in a bakery, kitchen, or food production environment preferred Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently Ability to follow recipes with precision and consistency Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs A positive attitude and willingness to learn What We Offer A collaborative, team-focused environment rooted in hospitality and craftsmanship The opportunity to work with high-quality, farm-grown ingredients A setting that values care, consistency, and attention to detail
