Baker responsibilities include opening the bakery early in the morning, mixing dough, shaping dough, boiling bagels, preparing cinnamon filling & cream cheese frosting, baking bagels & pastries, and keeping your work area clean. You must have great attention-to-detail to do well in this position. Some knowledge of and experience with fermentation is a huge plus. Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious baked goods to our customers on a daily basis. You'll be working as part of a small team in a small space. We take great pride in the quality of our work and like to have as much fun as possible while we do it. This is a full-time position, 5 days per week, 35-40 hours per week. Working at least one weekend day, and sometimes both, is a requirement. All shifts start at 4:30am. Responsibilities Open the bakery early in the morning Clean kitchen equipment and tools before and after use Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough Bake bagels, cinnamon buns, and cookies Prepare cinnamon filling and cream cheese frosting Shape bagels/buns/cookies Fill in daily fermentation data Keep work area clean Communicate any issues to Manager or Owner Skills Experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, proofing cabinets, and ovens Understanding of food safety practices Excellent time-management skills Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude Flexibility to work in early morning shifts Certification from a culinary school is a plus Must be able to lift 50 lbs and be comfortable using a short step ladder
