Job Description

Overview J oin our dynamic culinary team as a Baker, where your passion for baking and food preparation will shine! As a Baker, you will serve in an important role in supporting the ministry and daily operations of Columbia Church, Child Development Center, Columbia Cafe, and special church functions, preparing wholesome baked goods and snacks in a warm, safe, and welcoming environment. Through the ministry of hospitality, this position helps create a nurturing atmosphere where children, families, staff, and guests experience care, excellence, and servant-hearted support. If you are a follower of Jesus, an active church member, you have the call, skills, and experience as a Baker in a Christian environment for a church, child care center, and a Cafe, this job is waiting for you.
Duties:
Prepare and bake muffins, breads, cookies, pastries, and other approved baked goods for children, staff, families, the Columbia Cafe, and ministry-related activities. Assist in developing age-appropriate and nutritious snacks. Follow standardized recipes, portion guidelines, and nutritional requirements. Decorate and present baked goods in an appealing, professional manner. Prepare special baked items for Cafe and Church events, celebrations, or seasonal programs as requested. Maintain organized baking stations, ingredient storage, refrigerators, and freezers. Properly measure, mix, proof, bake, cool, and store products. Monitor inventory levels for baking supplies and notify supervisors of shortages. Receive and properly store deliveries in accordance with food safety standards. Support a welcoming, hospitable kitchen environment that reflects the Church's values and mission. Demonstrate kindness, patience, flexibility, reliability, punctuality, and a service-oriented attitude in daily interactions.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in baking, pastry arts, or culinary environments preferred; strong cake decorating skills a plus Knowledge of food handling safety standards and kitchen sanitation procedures Experience with food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment operation. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail Familiarity with food industry practices related to packaging, food safety, and catering services.
