Wren's Nest Baking Co.'s mission is to create incredible gluten-free foods that will be enjoyed by everyone in the community, while being safe for everyone to eat. We are looking for a team of individuals who are energetic, enthusiastic about excellent baked foods, and provide a high level of quality in baking for Wren's Nest Baking Co.
Position Summary:
The Baker will support the Head Baker in regular operation of the bakery kitchen. Tasks include hands-on baking, supporting the daily bake-off, and preparing baked foods for the daily menu. This is a kitchen-based position and requires collaboration with the Front of House (FOH) staff to fulfill tasks and essential functions. The responsibilities and duties of this position as described are representative of those an employee must perform. This is not comprehensive and other duties may be assigned. The Baker represents the company and therefore is responsible for working in a professional manner and will seek to promote the company's values and creed.
Essential Functions:
Prepare and bake a variety of gluten-free products, including bread, pastries, cookies, cakes, and more, following established recipes and procedures to ensure consistent quality and taste. Measure and combine ingredients accurately, ensuring proper proportions and adherence to gluten-free guidelines. Monitor ingredient inventory and communicate needs to the management team. Daily prepare and bake sourdough, yeast breads, pretzels, cinnamon rolls, and other baked items as assigned. Operate baking equipment, including ovens, mixers, and proofing cabinets, with precision and safety in mind. Troubleshoot and address any equipment issues that arise. Adhere to strict food safety and sanitation guidelines to maintain a clean and organized baking environment. Follow proper handling procedures for allergen management. Work closely with other members of the bakery team, including the Head Baker and front of house staff, to coordinate production schedules, manage inventory levels, and ensure timely delivery of fresh products. Collaborate with the Head Baker to develop new recipes, including specials, menu expansion, new menu categories, and other opportunities for new recipes. Participate in the assembly and presentation of bakery products for display, ensuring they are visually appealing and in line with the bakery's branding.
Regular Duties:
Work with Head Baker to confirm any items that should be added to the preparation list for the day. Support a logical flow for the bake, ex: bake like-flavored cakes first, then move to scones while baking, then to muffins once oven space is available, etc. After all items are baked, properly wrap and store all product and items. Assist in cleaning up the workstation and workspaces, clean the floors, etc. Other duties as assigned.
