Position Summary:

The Pastry Cook + Baker is responsible for following all Cloudy Cafe s recipes and procedures to assemble, decorate, finish, package, and present baked goods and other items on a daily menu. This position works daily to ensure that fresh baked goods are stocked and ready in the caf every day. This position is one of teamwork and creativity that works under the leadership of the Kitchen Lead and follows directives from the Owner/Founder, Dionne Himmelfarb. A Cloudy Cafe Pastry Cook + Baker is enthusiastic, dedicated, imaginative, and communicative. This position requires a strong sense of urgency, the ability to multitask, a fine eye for detail, and most importantly a passion for creating superb baked goods.

Essential Job Functions and Key Responsibilities:

Prepare a variety of baked products and follow standard recipes and production guidelines to ensure consistent product quality. Set up and operate bakery equipment safely and effectively. Monitor oven temperatures, dough fermentation, and bake times to maintain quality standards. Complete the finishing stages of all baked goods such as glazing, decorating, or assembling. Package and prepare baked goods for display or for customer orders in the caf . Set up and operate bakery equipment safely and effectively. Support Kitchen Lead in monitoring stock levels of ingredients and supplies. Maintain a clean and organized work environment, equipment and tools, following all health and safety standards.

Required Skills and Education:

2 years or more experience in production, retail, or restaurant baking / pastry. Food Handler s Permit MAST Certification Able to Multitask. Possesses basic math skills to operate various platforms for basic back of house operations.

Physical Demands:

Pastry Cook + Baker is expected to perform job functions with reasonable accommodations.

Physical demands include:

Remain standing in a stationary position and walking throughout the facility for extended periods of time each day. Reaches, bends, squats and lifts (up to 50lbs); carry 20-50lbs over short distances. Ability to operate large baking equipment.

Compensation:

The Pastry Cook + Baker rate begins at $25/hour with 40% of tips earned at Cloudy Cafe.
