Barista

Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks, pour-overs, cold brew, and seasonal menu offerings to exacting standards Dial in grinders, calibrate espresso shots, and maintain consistent extraction parameters across equipment Operate Square POS to process orders, manage tabs, apply discounts, and handle cash and card transactions accurately Use Square's reporting dashboard to assist with end-of-day reconciliation and tip pooling Deliver warm, knowledgeable hospitality — answer guest questions about origin, roast profile, and brewing methods Maintain bar cleanliness, equipment hygiene, and food safety standards throughout every shift Stock and rotate pastry, merchandise, and retail coffee products Support opening and closing procedures including equipment calibration, cleaning, and register closeout via Square Communicate efficiently with kitchen and floor staff to ensure smooth ticket flow

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

6+ months of barista experience in a specialty or high-volume café environment (preferred, not required) Solid understanding of espresso fundamentals: dose, yield, time, temperature Experience with Square POS or similar point-of-sale systems; comfortable learning new tech quickly Food Handler's Card or willingness to obtain one before first shift Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 40 lbs (milk crates, coffee bags) Strong time management and multitasking skills during peak rushes Team-first mindset — you support your fellow baristas, not just your own station Genuine enthusiasm for specialty coffee, origin storytelling, and continuous improvement

Pay:

$17.00 - $23.98 per hour
