About Sospeso Sospeso is more than a café, we are a community-centered space designed to foster belonging, dignity, and renewal in the heart of Pomona. As part of the Living Hope Foundation, A Nonprofit private corporation, we operate with a deep commitment to supporting the whole person mind, body, and spirit through hospitality, nourishment, and access to community resources. Our café opens January 2026 and will serve high-quality coffee, sandwiches, pastries, and gelato while providing a warm, welcoming environment for all. Our space is intentionally designed to be a place of connection, support, and transformation for the Pomona community. Sospeso also supports broader community initiatives such as educational programs, job readiness resources, mental health support, a teaching kitchen, and a community thrift store. Position Summary The Café Team Member plays a key role in creating a warm and welcoming customer experience. This position is responsible for preparing café menu items, maintaining a clean and organized environment, serving guests with kindness and professionalism, and embodying the values of dignity, belonging, and service that guide our mission. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, learning new skills, and contributing to a mission-driven environment. Key Responsibilities Guest Experience & Hospitality Create a welcoming, inclusive, and positive experience for every guest. Provide friendly and attentive customer service. Contribute to an environment where all individuals feel seen, valued, and respected. Café Operations Operate the POS system accurately, handle cash and electronic payments responsibly. Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and espresso drinks. Scoop and serve gelato with proper portioning and care. Assemble menu items such as breakfast and lunch sandwiches, and house-made grab-and-go offerings. Assist with kitchen prep and restocking. Food Safety & Cleanliness Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines. Wash dishes, clean and sanitize surfaces, and restock supplies. Keep dining, bar, and prep areas clean and organized. Bus tables and help maintain a tidy, inviting café environment. Teamwork & Culture Collaborate closely with team members to ensure smooth daily operations. Contribute to a workplace culture grounded in dignity, belonging, service, and community. Support community resource initiatives (e.g., helping guests access Wi-Fi/laptops when needed). Qualifications Previous café, food service, or customer service experience is helpful but not required, training will be provided. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work well in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to excellent customer service and hospitality. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs. Schedule & Compensation Part-time roles available. Morning, afternoon, and evening shifts. Café will operate Monday-Saturday. Why Join Sospeso?
