6:30 am - 4:00 pm

Job Description This role prepares high-quality espresso and coffee beverages, supports food preparation, and delivers friendly, efficient service in a fast-paced café environment. The barista accurately processes customer orders, maintains a clean and organized workstation, and follows food safety and quality standards to ensure a positive experience for every guest. Responsibilities Prepare espresso and coffee beverages, as well as related food and drink items, using standard measures, recipes, and prescribed production standards. Enter customer orders accurately into the POS system and handle cash and charge payments in a precise and timely manner. Replenish condiments, beverages, and general supplies throughout the shift while maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked service area. Ensure proper presentation, portion control, and serving temperatures for all food and beverage items, following HACCP standards and approved recipes. Maintain sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies, utensils, and display areas according to food safety and quality guidelines. Keep display equipment clean, organized, and free of debris during meal service to ensure an appealing and safe presentation. Clean and sanitize equipment and the workstation thoroughly before leaving the area or moving to other assignments. Greet customers courteously and interact in a friendly, professional manner to ensure customer satisfaction. Listen to customer feedback and relay relevant concerns or issues to supervisors in a timely and constructive way. Serve customers quickly and efficiently to prevent delays and long lines, maintaining a steady workflow during busy periods. Demonstrate a complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explain ingredients, preparation methods, and options to customers. Promote menu items by using effective selling techniques, clear communication, and product knowledge to assist customers in their buying decisions. Ensure all display foods are merchandised attractively and consistently with established standards, serving food neatly and appealingly. Follow all food handling and safety procedures, including HACCP guidelines, to support a safe and compliant food-service operation. Perform additional related duties as assigned to support overall café operations and team success. Essential Skills Proven ability to prepare espresso, coffee, and related beverages using standard recipes and measures. Experience with basic food preparation and assembly in a café or food-service environment. Ability to handle food safely in accordance with HACCP guidelines and quality food-service standards. Strong presentation and customer service skills, with a friendly and courteous approach to guests and coworkers. Good verbal communication skills to explain menu items clearly and interact positively with customers. Capability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to stay organized and maintain cleanliness in a fast-paced service area. Positive, enthusiastic attitude toward all assignments and a willingness to support team needs. Cheerful and helpful demeanor when dealing with customers, even during busy periods. Physical ability to lift, bend, and carry up to 45 pounds as part of daily duties. Comfort using a POS system to enter orders and process cash and card payments accurately. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience as a line cook, food handler, or in general food preparation is beneficial. Familiarity with merchandising and presenting display foods attractively. Ability to learn daily menus quickly and retain product knowledge to support suggestive selling. Strong time management skills to balance order-taking, beverage preparation, and restocking responsibilities. Why Work Here? The environment requires frequent standing, bending, lifting up to 45 pounds, and maintaining a clean, orderly workstation throughout the shift. Food handling and preparation follow HACCP guidelines, emphasizing safety, sanitation, and consistency in all aspects of service. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilmington, DE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $17.00/hr.
