Job Description
Job Summary As a Lead Barista, you will be the heartbeat of our café, delivering exceptional coffee experiences (with help from our partner, Prairie House Coffee Co) and maintaining a welcoming environment for guests. Your leadership will ensure smooth operations, uphold food safety standards, and foster a culture of excellence in customer service. You'll serve as a role model for new baristas, guiding them through daily tasks and encouraging their growth. This role offers an exciting opportunity to blend your passion for coffee and helping kids grow with leadership skills in a fast-paced, dynamic setting. Duties Lead and motivate the barista team to deliver outstanding customer service and high-quality beverages Oversee daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring cleanliness and organization Assist customers with menu selections, answer questions about coffee options, and ensure a positive experience Manage POS system (Square) for accurate order processing (cashless) Train new team members on food safety, food preparation, serving techniques, and POS usage Monitor inventory levels of coffee beans, supplies, and food items; place orders as needed Enforce food handling and safety standards in compliance with health regulations Support sales goals by promoting products and upselling where appropriate Maintain accurate cash registers through cashiering duties and retail math calculations Ensure all team members adhere to food industry standards for hygiene, safety, and quality Qualifications Proven barista experience with a strong understanding of coffee preparation and food service practices Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a café or retail environment preferred Familiarity with POS systems is desirable Familiarity with Social Media is desirable Excellent time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse clientele Knowledge of food safety protocols, food handling Ability to work flexible hours including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed Basic math skills necessary for cashiering, sales tracking, and inventory management Join us as a Lead Barista and be part of a vibrant team dedicated to crafting memorable coffee moments!
