Hourly / Full-Time Mission At Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee , our mission is to craft beautiful coffee, create purposeful work, and cultivate flourishing communities. Through our Collaborative Trade model, we partner with coffee farming villages to provide living wages, education, healthcare, and access to clean water — all while celebrating the craft of specialty coffee. As a Lead Barista , you serve as a brand ambassador and culture carrier. You lead by example, ensuring excellence in both hospitality and craft while guiding your team toward consistency, connection, and purpose. Position Overview The Lead Barista plays a key role in daily café operations by maintaining a high standard of coffee quality, guest service, and teamwork. You support the Community Manager by leading shifts, training baristas, monitoring inventory, and maintaining a positive, efficient work environment. Key Responsibilities Lead and organize successful workflow during each shift. Prepare espresso and other bar drinks with consistency and care. Ensure product quality and service standards are met throughout every shift. Monitor inventory levels and communicate supply needs promptly. Open and close the café following proper procedures. Train new employees and barbacks on recipes, systems, and hospitality. Confidently communicate our mission and story to guests. Participate in outside coffee-training exercises or internal leadership development. Assist with merchandising, seasonal promotions, and community initiatives. Take initiative in maintaining cleanliness, organization, and operational excellence. Qualifications 1-2 years of barista experience; previous leadership experience preferred. Strong understanding of café workflow and espresso calibration. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated leadership ability and commitment to teamwork. Dependable, punctual, and professional. Passion for people, coffee, and purpose-driven work. Performance Expectations Maintain shift-level efficiency and organization, ensuring team pace aligns with store sales goals. Uphold café SPLH (Sales Per Labor Hour) standards and contribute to overall profitability. Model hospitality through meaningful guest interactions and service excellence. Participate in Flourishing Futures development milestones and coaching sessions. Benefits 20% off all food and merchandise. 1 free drink per shift + 1 free drink per day while not on shift. Leadership development and career growth through the Flourishing Futures Pathway (Barista → Lead Barista → Community Manager → Regional Leader). Review and potential pay increase after 90 days based on performance.
Compensation Starting hourly rate:
$17/hr + tips (Exact rate may vary by location and experience.)
