Jun 9, 2026 184 people viewed Required Years of Experience 2 years Job Details At Buttercup, you will be responsible for crafting high-quality coffee and tea beverages, assisting guests with pastry and café selections, and ensuring smooth service. As a barista, you will welcome guests warmly, learn their preferences (including allergies associated), educate guests on our café and amaro programs (when applicable), recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages to order. Success in this role requires a duty to hospitality, teamwork, and an obsession with details. A Buttercup café team member is approachable, engaging, and a morning person with a warm disposition!Responsibilities:
Create memorable and special experiences for all members and guests through exceptional delivery of coffee and espresso drinks Maintain a sharp, neatly-groomed and polished appearance at all times Work varying shift times across the seven days, to include working weekends, opens & closes Classic café drink knowledge: the ability to make uniform coffee, espresso, and tea drinks Educate all guests about Buttercup café program; brewing methods, beverage blends, and preparation techniques as well as pairing food items to optimize and improve overall guest experience Maintain accurate knowledge of menu items, seasonally influenced offerings, answer questions and accepting orders and payments via cash register. Complete AM checklist and preparing section for daily business levels and by grinding and blending coffee beans, brewing coffee and tea, slicing garnishes and serving items. Responsible for adhering to company and local sanitary and food/safety standards by washing dishes, glassware, and utensils after each use, maintaining a clean work area Monitor and maintain coffee inventory of supplies to ensure service is always seamless and product is available to make drinks and sell beverage options Assisting customers with pastry and café menu selections and processing orders Running food from the kitchen, bussing tables, and maintaining dish cleanliness Stocking and preparing syrups, coffee flavorings, and other bar essentials Maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar, pastry case, and dining areas Working efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality and composure Performs other duties as assigned by manager Required Skills/Qualifications 2+ years of Barista and local café experience Serv-Safe and Basset Certified Must have or be willing to obtain an Illinois Food Handler's Certification A coachable spirit, ability to work in a team environment and autonomously Maintain a sharp, neatly-groomed and polished appearance at all times Experience with restaurant POS systems Strong knowledge of coffee, tea, and espresso beverages Preparing and serving high-quality espresso, coffee, and tea beverages Basic floor service experience, including food running and bussing Morning and weekend availability required Flexible to work opening, mid, and closing shifts as needed Providing excellent customer service and fostering positive, long-lasting guest relationships Effective and proactive communicator with a strong work ethic Comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment Strong multitasking skills and the ability to maintain composure under pressure Physical Requirements Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands Must be able to move, pull, carry or lift at least 50 pounds Must be able to occasionally kneel, bend, crouch and climb as required Must be able to perform physical activities such as lifting, cleaning, and stooping Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for long periods of time Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, reach, push, twist, walk, crouch, and squat Required Skills/Qualifications Competitive compensationHealth Care:
