FRONT OF HOUSE (BAKERY & COFFEE BAR)

Violet Crumb is a scratch-made neighborhood bakery in downtown Wheaton. Donuts are the thing, but the menu changes constantly. One week it's crullers and cherry danish, the next it's some completely unhinged seasonal drink and a pastry case full of things people travel to town for. Busy mornings are part of the deal. Music on, drinks flying out, boxes stacked across the counter, people asking what sold out already. People notice if I don't make fritters on a Friday. We're building the kind of neighborhood spot people stop into "real quick" and accidentally stay awhile. That energy matters here. The right person is warm, quick on their feet, emotionally intelligent, and genuinely likes people. You should enjoy chatting with customers, recognizing familiar faces, making recommendations, and keeping things calm and welcoming even when the line is out the door. We care a lot about hospitality here. Not stiff or performative service. Just thoughtful, high-energy people who make the room feel good to be in. This is not a stand-around-and-scroll kind of job. It's fast-paced, hands-on, occasionally chaotic, and very team-oriented. You'll bounce between register, drinks, packaging orders, reset, dish, restocking, and whatever else helps keep the whole thing running smoothly.

THE ROLE

Part-time, 10 to 20 hours per week

SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS

We are open Thursday through Sunday. Availability for Thursday through Sunday mornings starting at 7am is required. Weekend availability is required. PAY $16-18 guaranteed minimum

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Welcome customers and create a genuinely good experience from the second they walk in Take orders, handle payments, and keep things moving during busy rushes Build boxes, package orders, and send people out the door excited about what they just got Prepare coffee, tea, and seasonal drinks as part of daily service. Barista experience is a strong plus Keep the shop clean, stocked, organized, and feeling good throughout service Help with dish, reset, restocking, and overall shop flow as needed

EXPERIENCE

At least 1 to 2 years of customer service or food service experience required Barista experience is a strong plus This is not an entry-level role
