Due to our focus on quality small-batch baked goods, and our community-centric customer service, our business is growing, and our team is expanding. We are seeking passionate front of house team members eager to cultivate a creative, fun, and consistent café environment to help open our second location in Belmont, MA. The cafe will be located in Belmont Center, at 49 Leonard Street , right off the 74 and 75 bus lines, and the Belmont Commuter Rail Stop on the Fitchburg Line. Our counter service baristas at Butternut are the first faces neighbors see when they are greeted at the cafe, and their ultimate goal is to enhance the customer experience. The front of house team welcomes customers, takes and fulfills food and drink orders, makes and serves drinks, and keeps a clean and well-stocked workspace. A successful applicant is friendly, outgoing, and will have customer service skills from previous experience, attention to detail, and be a proactive, community-oriented team player. Barista skills are a plus!

Shifts requirements: 3 PM

• 5 PM on a few weekdays 7 AM
• 11 AM on some weekends 9 AM
• 5 PM on a weekend day when fully trained

Responsibilities:

Barista (FOH)

• Take orders from customers and be knowledgeable in products
• Pack products for customers with care
• Make precise hot/cold beverages, coffee, tea, espresso drinks
• Accurately handle cash and credit card transactions
• Make sure the counter and chilled case is clean, arranged and well stocked
• Help clean service and customer areas
• Count and close the cash registers on Sunday with accuracy

Qualifications:

• Able to stand for long periods of up to 8 hours.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to listen to instruction, strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately and retain information
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Able to work well in a team and report to the shift leads and Cafe Manager Compensation and Benefits $16-20/ hour depending on experience Free drinks, and select pastries, on shift Employee discount Paid time off Employees that work over 30 hours per week are eligible for health, vision, and dental benefits
