FOH Barista / BOH Expo

We are Butternut Bakehouse, a bakery serving charming, rustic handcrafted pastries. Due to our focus on quality small-batch baked goods, and our community-centric customer service, our business is growing, and our team is expanding. We are seeking passionate team members eager to cultivate a creative, fun, and consistent café environment at our second location in Belmont, MA. The cafe is located in Belmont Center, at 49 Leonard Street , right off the 74 and 75 bus lines, and the Belmont Commuter Rail Stop on the Fitchburg Line. We are looking to fill a candidate to fill a dual role position

• counter staff/barista and back-of-house sandwich expo.

Our counter service baristas at Butternut are the first faces neighbors see when they are greeted at the cafe, and their ultimate goal is to enhance the customer experience. The front of house team welcomes customers, takes and fulfills food and drink orders, makes and serves drinks, and keeps a clean and well-stocked workspace. Our back-of house sandwich expo will help expedite sandwich orders, assemble lunch and breakfast sandwiches. A successful applicant is friendly, outgoing, and will have customer service skills from previous experience, attention to detail, and be a proactive, community-oriented team player.

Shifts requirements:

Mondays 11 AM

• 5 PM
• counter Wednesdays 10 AM
• 2:30 PM
• sando expo Thursdays 10 AM
• 2:30 PM
• sando expo Potential Saturday and Sunday hours for either counter and/or sando expo Minimum hours required 15 hours per week with opportunity to increase.

Responsibilities:

Barista/ Counter (FOH)

• Take orders from customers and be knowledgeable in products
• Pack products for customers with care
• Make precise hot/cold beverages, coffee, tea, espresso drinks
• Accurately handle cash and credit card transactions
• Make sure the counter and chilled case is clean, arranged and well stocked
• Help clean service and customer areas Sandwich Expo (BOH) During the lunch service, you will assemble and wrap lunch sandwiches and hand them off.

Also portion proteins, assemble breakfast sandwiches, wrap breads.

Qualifications:

• Able to stand for long periods of up to 8 hours.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Able to listen to instruction, strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately and retain information
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Able to work well in a team and report to the shift leads and Cafe Manager Compensation and Benefits $16-20/ hour depending on experience Free drinks, and select pastries, on shift Employee discount Paid time off Employees that work over 30 hours per week are eligible for health, vision, and dental benefits
