Barista & Cake Packaging (Front of House)

Position Overview:

As a Barista & and Cashier, you will play a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional customer experience at our café. You will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee and tea beverages, as well as packaging cakes and baked goods for our customers. Your attention to detail, ability to multitask, and friendly demeanor will help create a welcoming atmosphere for guests while ensuring the highest standards of quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

Barista Duties:

Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, espresso-based drinks, teas, and other beverages according to company recipes and customer preferences. Operate coffee machines, grinders, and other equipment, ensuring proper cleaning and maintenance. Maintain knowledge of the menu and offer suggestions to customers on beverages and seasonal specials. Take customer orders, process payments, and efficiently handle cash register transactions. Create a positive and inviting environment for customers through friendly communication and excellent customer service. Ensure that drinks are prepared in a timely manner, while maintaining consistency and quality. Monitor inventory levels for coffee beans, syrups, milk, and other supplies, and inform the supervisor when stock is running low. 2.

Cake & Pastry Packaging:

Package cakes, pastries, and baked goods neatly and securely for customers, ensuring that they are well-presented and ready for takeout. Ensure proper labeling of products, including ingredient lists, allergen information, and expiration dates where applicable. Maintain a clean and organized pastry display, ensuring that products are rotated and stocked for easy access. Work closely with kitchen staff to ensure freshly baked items are promptly packaged and ready for customer pick-up. Offer suggestions and assist customers in choosing from the cake and pastry menu. 3.

Customer Service:

Greet customers warmly as they enter and exit the café, making them feel welcome and valued. Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback with patience, empathy, and professionalism. Maintain a clean and inviting atmosphere by keeping the front of house tidy, including wiping down counters, tables, and the pastry display. Collaborate with colleagues to create a smooth workflow during busy periods. Assist with opening and closing procedures, including setting up the café and cleaning at the end of the day. 4.

Health & Safety:

Adhere to health and safety regulations, ensuring cleanliness and food safety standards are consistently met. Follow proper food handling practices when handling cakes, pastries, and beverages. Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, including the coffee bar, packaging area, and customer-facing spaces.

Key Skills & Qualifications:

Previous barista or customer service experience is preferred. A passion for coffee and food, with a willingness to learn and grow. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with customers effectively. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask efficiently. Attention to detail, particularly when it comes to beverage preparation and packaging. A positive attitude and the ability to work well within a team. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for long periods. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs (cakes, boxes, etc.). Ability to handle and move hot beverages and equipment safely.
