Job Role:
Lead Barista Role Summary The Lead Barista is both a hospitality leader and a craft expert. This role sets the tone for guest experience by delivering consistently excellent beverages, modeling warm and attentive service, and supporting the barista team through leadership, training, and accountability. The Lead Barista is a daily example of PorchLight's values in action. How Our Values Show Up in This RoleCore Responsibilities Guest Experience & Hospitality Act as a host at the counter, creating a welcoming, warm, and engaging experience for every guest Build rapport with guests and members through conversation, recognition, and attentiveness Anticipate guest needs and resolve issues quickly, calmly, and thoughtfully Ensure service standards are consistently met during every shift Beverage Quality & Execution Prepare and serve coffee and beverages to PorchLight quality standards Maintain consistency in recipes, presentation, and speed of service Monitor espresso calibration, milk quality, and bar flow throughout the day Uphold cleanliness, organization, and food safety standards at all times Team Leadership & Support Lead by example on the floor, modeling professionalism, warmth, and joy Support, coach, and mentor baristas during shifts Assist with training new baristas and reinforcing service and beverage standards Provide real-time feedback and encouragement to the team Operations & Accountability Open and/or close the bar according to procedures Ensure proper stocking, prep, and organization of the bar Communicate operational needs, issues, or guest feedback to management Support inventory awareness and waste reduction Culture & Community Foster a positive, collaborative team environment Encourage curiosity, creativity, and playfulness while maintaining high standards Help create a sense of community at the bar for guests and teammates What Success Looks Like Guests feel genuinely welcomed, cared for, and eager to return Beverages are consistently high quality and served with confidence The bar runs smoothly, even during busy periods Baristas feel supported, informed, and motivated PorchLight values are clearly reflected in daily behavior Key Skills & Qualities Strong hospitality mindset with a guest-first approach Advanced coffee knowledge and barista experience Calm, confident leadership style Excellent communication and attention to detail Ability to multitask and stay composed in a fast-paced environment Brand Values in ActionWARMTH & HOSPITALITY
Greet every guest and teammate with openness, eye contact, and genuine care- Sets the tone for warm, genuine guest interactions for the team Create a welcoming, inclusive environment at the counter Address guest concerns with empathy, calmness, and respect ; anticipates needs and personalizes service whenever possible.
