Bun Chai Yemeni Coffee & Tea is proud to be the first Yemeni coffee shop on the University of Michigan campus, offering students and the local community a unique cultural experience through traditional Yemeni drinks and hospitality. We are passionate about preserving and sharing the rich flavors, heritage, and stories of Yemen through our signature brews and welcoming atmosphere.

Position Overview:

We are seeking enthusiastic and reliable Baristas who are excited to be part of something new and culturally meaningful. As a Barista at Bun Chai, you'll be responsible for crafting high-quality beverages, engaging with customers, and helping create an authentic and warm environment that reflects Yemeni culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea beverages, including traditional Yemeni drinks such as qishr and bun. Provide excellent customer service by greeting guests, answering questions, and offering recommendations. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café area, including equipment, counters, and seating. Follow food and beverage preparation guidelines, including health and safety standards. Restock supplies and assist with inventory management as needed. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth day-to-day operations. Educate customers about the cultural significance of Yemeni coffee and tea offerings.

Qualifications:

Prior barista or café experience preferred, but not required

Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. A positive attitude, team spirit, and genuine interest in coffee culture. Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, or campus event shifts as needed.
