Join Our Team as a Barista at the Lincoln Children's Zoo - Where Coffee Meets Wildlife! Are you a coffee (or tea) enthusiast with a passion for exceptional customer service? Do you want to work in a one-of-a-kind location surrounded by the sights and sounds of exotic animals? We're looking for a friendly, energetic Barista to join our zoo team! In this exciting role, you'll be serving up delicious beverages to guests while creating unforgettable experiences in a fun and lively setting. $16.00/hour + tips! Up to 32+ hours a week! At Lincoln Children's Zoo, our mission is to enrich lives through interaction with living things. We provide hands-on experiences for more than 250,000 guests per year and care for over 400 creatures. We are champions of STEM education through camps and programs, and help families make memories by producing special events and experiences throughout the year. The Barista is responsible for creating a welcoming and memorable guest experience through exceptional beverage service and hospitality. This role requires efficiency, reliability, friendliness, and previous barista experience to ensure high-quality service in a fast-paced environment. The Barista will prepare beverages, maintain a clean and organized workspace, and work collaboratively with the Food & Beverage team to deliver outstanding service to zoo guests. This position reports directly to the Food & Beverage Manager. Essential Job Functions Greet and interact with guests in a friendly, proactive, professional, and welcoming manner. Prepare and serve high-quality coffee, tea, and specialty beverages with consistency and attention to detail. Operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent customer service standards. Take guest orders accurately and ensure each guest enjoys a positive and memorable experience. Open and close the coffee bar, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and readiness for daily operations. Maintain cleanliness of equipment, dishes, counters, and all work areas in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards. Operate a point of sale system and its components. Handle cash appropriately Monitor product freshness and expiration dates regularly. Communicate inventory and supply needs to management. Work collaboratively with team members to maintain a smooth, reliable, and efficient operation. Support a positive and energetic atmosphere that reflects the Zoo's mission and values. Perform all other duties as assigned. Preferred Talents Previous barista experience preferred. Strong customer service and hospitality skills. Excellent verbal communication skills. Ability to multitask and remain organized in a fast-paced setting. Dependable, punctual, and team-oriented. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with guests and Zoo employees at all levels. Knowledge of safe food handling procedures and sanitation practices. Ability to serve guests quickly, efficiently, and kindly while maintaining beverage quality standards. Qualifications Must successfully complete training in food preparation, food service skills, and customer service procedures. Must be able to work a varied schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Valid driver's license required. Physical Requirements This position requires standing for extended periods of time, operating equipment, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Working Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work in both indoor and outdoor conditions and may be exposed to loud noises, an active environment, extreme temperatures and inclement weather, including wet, icy, or muddy conditions. Weekend, evening, and holiday work may be required.
