Barista

Barista Position Overview:

We are looking for a skilled barista who is customer-oriented, a team player, and loves the cafe world. At Choc O Pain we pride ourselves with serving our guests a variety of coffee beverages and freshly baked goods made right in our production facility. As a barista, you will be the face of Choc O Pain Bakery and Café, responsible for providing excellent customer service, creating delicious coffee drinks, serving and enticing our guests with our quality products, and maintaining a clean and welcoming atmosphere.

Key Responsibilities:

Coffee Preparation:

Expertly prepare and serve various coffee drinks, including espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, macchiatos, and other specialty beverages according to Choc O Pain recipes and quality standards.

Product Knowledge:

Become familiar with all of our freshly made products to ensure every taste bud is satisfied. Most importantly to help guests with allergies. Stay updated on the Choc O Pain Bakery menu offerings, promotions, and any new products or coffee training. Be able to provide information about our coffee drinks as well as our menu items.

Customer Service :

Greet customers with a warm and friendly attitude, take orders, and answer questions about coffee menu items and our quality products. We expect that you will provide personalized recommendations based on customer preferences and ensure a positive experience for all patrons.

Cash Handling:

Operate the cash register, handle cash and credit transactions accurately, and process customer payments. Maintain a balanced cash drawer at the end of each shift.

Equipment Maintenance:

Clean and maintain all equipment, including espresso bar, 3 compartment sink, bread slicer, oven, dish machine, etc. Following proper cleaning and sanitization procedures advised by the company.

Food Preparation :

Assist in preparing and serving authentic, high-quality menu items, such as pastries, sandwiches, and snacks, and ensure they are presented appealingly to customers.

Cleanliness and Organization :

Keep the cafe service and seating areas clean, tidy, and well-organized at all times. Regularly restock supplies, including cups, lids, napkins, and condiments.

Health and Safety Compliance :

Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling, sanitation, and personal hygiene practices, to ensure a safe environment for customers and staff.

Teamwork:

Collaborate with other team members, including other baristas, team members, management and executive management, to ensure smooth operations and excellent service during busy times.

Qualifications:

Previous experience as a barista or in a similar customer service role is preferred, but not always required. Knowledge of different coffee brewing methods and the ability to prepare various coffee beverages. Baseline understanding of bakery goods. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail in preparing beverages and presenting them attractively. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions and calculating change. Flexibility in working hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. A passion for coffee and a willingness to learn about different coffee beans and brewing techniques. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift/move heavy supplies.
