Job Description

Metropol Bakery is a woman-owned and women-run scratch bakery serving our community for almost 50 years. We are looking for someone to join our team at Metropol Bakery and work the Counter shift. This person would be one of the faces of Metropol Bakery therefore, must have a friendly attitude, patience, feel comfortable greeting people, be skilled at multitasking, complete tasks under pressure, and be adept at handling customer complaints. As well as not having any allergies that could interfere with you handling/making products, or tasting all our products as to personally be familiar to help customers. Experience with coffee is preferred, but not necessary as we are happy to train the right person. You must be available to work leading up to and on holidays. This is a dealbreaker, we are busiest during holidays (Christmas, thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, etc) therefore, it is crucial that you are available and wanting to work during these times. Start times as well as scheduled days can and will change during the holidays, but you'll generally have a schedule at least two weeks out. Metropol Bakery has a opener and a closer working FOH, and on extra busy days and/or holidays a mid shift as well. Our hours at Metropol Bakery open to customers is from 8am-4pm. If you are opener that day you will typically start at 7am and leave at 3pm. And, closer typically begins at 9am and finishes at 5:30pm. The Counter shift duties include, but are not limited to,
  • Organizing pastries and bread in our baskets
  • Placing our cookie and scone variety on display
  • Operating the cash register efficiently, handle cash and process transactions with precision.
  • Creating a number of different coffee beverages using our expresso machine.
  • Meeting and greeting customers
  • Manage time effectively during busy periods to serve customers promptly while maintaining quality standards.
  • Manage time effectively during slower periods with restocking supplies, monitoring inventory levels and cleaning.
  • Taking over the phone orders as well as in person orders.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization
  • Making sandwiches following food safety standards.
  • Stocking the case with our variety of cakes, pies, and other marvelous desserts, such as our well known Cream Puff, which much like everything else is bursting with flavor!
