Bridgeway is a new kind of healthcare organization providing holistic treatment through addiction recovery, problem gambling treatment, mental health therapy, and primary medical care.
PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Barista is a Bridgeway professional who makes and serves beverages such as coffee and tea at our new building location. The person in this position will be responsible for educating customers on our coffee menu; making recommendations based on their preferences; taking customer orders and payments; and cleaning and sanitizing their work/seating areas. The Barista is expected to have customer service skills and knowledge of how brewing equipment operates. This is a temporary full-time position with an employment duration of 6 months with an anticipated start date in the last week of June or sooner. There is the potential of transitioning this position to a regular full-time position to support the culinary services team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Welcomes customers as they order and engages in a friendly conversation to determine their coffee interests and needs. Gives the coffee drink menu to customers and answers questions regarding menu, ingredients and other related items. Takes orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios) Receives and processes customer payments. Prepares coffee drinks by following prescribed and preparation techniques for coffee drinks such as espresso, caffe latte and cappuccino. Keeps the work and coffee seating areas clean/sanitized and maintains stock of clean mugs and plates. Maintains inventories by replenishing coffee bean supply; maintains related supplies, as appropriate. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; checks if brewing equipment operates properly and reports any maintenance needs. Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following culinary standards and sanitation regulations. Communicates customer feedback to supervisors and recommends new menu items, as appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience, Education and Credentials High school diploma, GED or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least one year of café/coffee shop experience as a barista.
