Job Description

As a MOTW Barista, you'll prepare a variety of drinks — coffee, teas, smoothies, and more — while delivering the warm, genuine customer service we're known for. We take real pride in how we treat our customers, and we're thrilled when our baristas show they care. This is an evening/closing role, and we're specifically looking for someone who loves to sell . There are real opportunities for growth here based on performance and personal development. What We're Really Looking For A natural upseller. You don't just take orders — you guide them. You suggest the almond croissant with the latte, the size up, the seasonal special, the second item for the table. Growing the ticket on every order is core to this role. Energetic, reliable, and great with people during our busy evenings. Comfortable with social media is a plus. If you enjoy snapping photos or filming quick drink and pastry clips for our Instagram, we'd love that — but it's a bonus, not a requirement. Duties & Responsibilities Greet every customer warmly as they walk in. Educate customers on our full drink and pastry/food menu. Upsell featured items, add-ons, sizes, and pairings on every order. Handle cashier duties and take orders on the Clover system, writing orders on cups. Prepare pastries for in-house and to-go orders. Accept and fulfill DoorDash/delivery orders. Complete opening, daily, and closing procedures, fully checking off tasks in their designated tab. Keep a clean workspace behind the bar and throughout the café. Restock and organize inventory deliveries, and handle items dropped off by team members, the owner, or partner companies. Maintain a positive, drama-free workplace — fun, supportive, and free of negative commentary. Additional Responsibilities Ensure brewing equipment is operating properly and report maintenance needs. Comply with all health and safety regulations. Communicate any issues to the manager and pass along customer feedback or new menu ideas. Be adaptable to changes in systems and processes. Perform deep-cleaning tasks as assigned. Arrive on time for every shift. Shift Expectations Full-time, evening shift. Weekday evenings through closing (shop open until 9 PM), plus Friday and Saturday late nights (open until midnight). Clock in and out of every shift; if the system is down, notify your manager so your hours are recorded. Private Events Baristas may have the opportunity to work private events for extra pay. You'll fulfill all opening, daily, and closing procedures and follow any additional requests from the owner, manager, or event contractors. Work Attire Present yourself professionally — first impressions matter. No ripped jeans, crop tops, or graphic tees with political messages or profanity. Closed-toe shoes required; no sandals or slides unless they cover the toes.
