Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, espresso beverages, and light food items in accordance with Peet's Coffee standards while delivering exceptional guest service consistent with the hotel's service culture. This role creates a welcoming and efficient café experience for hotel guests and visitors.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Prepare and serve coffee, espresso, and specialty beverages following Peet's recipes and presentation standards Provide prompt, friendly, and personalized service to all guests Accurately take orders and process transactions using the POS system Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, including counters, equipment, and seating areas Restock products, supplies, and merchandise as needed Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of food and beverage items (FIFO) Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health guidelines Maintain knowledge of menu offerings and make recommendations to guests Assist with opening and closing duties, including cash handling and reporting Support hotel operations by assisting other departments when needed (especially during peak periods) Uphold brand standards for both Peet's Coffee and the hotel Adhere to all Health Department rules and regulations and brand standards Must be responsible for security of guests, fellow employees and hotel assets Must have completed required brand training program Must perform any other required duties as requested by the General Manager to aid in better operation of the hotel, restaurant, lounge, and service to the guests. Keep confidential the business functions of the company including, but not limited to, financial status, customer/guest information, employee issues, etc. Act with the highest level of integrity in every decision
Required Skills/Abilities:
Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask effectively Basic math skills and cash handling experience Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, staying on your feet, climbing stairs, carrying heavyweights. Must be able to communicate effectively by writing, telephone and personal meeting situations. Must be neat in appearance at all times. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and Holidays. Must be honest and work well with others.
Education and Experience:
Previous barista or food & beverage experience preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities:
None.
Physical Requirements:
Stand/walk on feet for 8 hours and work in a restrictive space/environment. Finger dexterity to type, to write, and work on a computer or micros machine. Must speak in a clear, understandable voice and hear at a basic level, and understand English. Must be able to bend, stretch arms overhead and lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds.
