PURPOSE:
Barista responsibilities include educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, upselling specials and taking orders. To be successful in this role, you should possess strong customer service skills and knowledge of espresso machines and other coffee equipment operations. This position involves shift work for early mornings, evenings and holidays.
Requirements:
Key Responsibilities:
Take customer orders using Clover POS system, cash, and Venmo. Prepare and serve drinks and cookies. Clean customer seating areas, empty trash, and maintain bathroom cleanliness. Maintain a clean and sanitary work area. Ensure all supplies are organized and stored properly. Report employee safety, food safety, and quality concerns to Lead Barista or Manager. Perform other duties as assigned. Learn about and share knowledge of Switchpoint Coffee Co. with customers. Assist Lead Barista, manager, and volunteers with other assigned tasks. Provide excellent customer service, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Assist in monitoring inventory levels of coffee, supplies, and other items, notifying the manager when reordering is needed. Stay informed about coffee blends, brewing methods, and menu items to make recommendations to customers. Collaborate with team members and support volunteers as needed. Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including proper food handling and sanitation practices. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in customer service or food service is advantageous but not required. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Basic math skills for handling transactions and cash. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs. Comfortable working in a busy environment with varying temperatures.
