Who We Are Primitive Coffee Market opened in Meadows of Dan, VA right off the Blue Ridge Parkway in 2021. We desire to meet the needs of our community by offering exceptional coffee and tea products, as well as breakfast and lunch options. We have an incredible core customer base of locals, and we also serve Blue Ridge Parkway travelers and Air BNB/ Short Term Rental guests. Our team members not only care about the quality of our products, but also about our guests, inviting them into our little slice of mountain town solace. Overview We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Barista to join our team. As a Barista, you will play a vital role in creating an inviting atmosphere for our customers while delivering exceptional service and high-quality beverages. You will be responsible for preparing and serving coffee and other beverages, ensuring food safety standards, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Duties Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, teas, and other specialty drinks according to established recipes. Operate the Square POS to process customer orders efficiently. Maintain food safety standards by ensuring cleanliness in food preparation areas and adhering to health regulations. Assist with food preparation tasks as needed, including preparing sandwiches or pastries. Provide outstanding customer service by engaging with customers, taking orders accurately, and addressing any inquiries or concerns. Utilize basic math skills to handle cash transactions accurately and provide change. Manage time effectively during busy periods to ensure timely service without compromising quality. Keep the work area clean and organized throughout the shift, including washing dishes and restocking supplies as necessary. Experience Previous experience in a coffee shop or food service environment is preferred but not required. Familiarity with coffee preparation techniques is a plus. Experience using Square or similar point-of-sale systems is advantageous. Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members. Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately. A commitment to food safety practices and maintaining a clean work environment.
