Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Bartender to join our vibrant team at a busy VFW! In this role, you will be the heart of the bar experience, creating memorable moments for guests through exceptional service, expertly crafted drinks, and a lively atmosphere. You will be part of a veteran organization that works hard to connect with veterans and our local community. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will ensure every guest feels welcomed and valued. Whether mixing cocktails, managing POS systems, or engaging with patrons, you'll play a key role in delivering an outstanding customer experience in a fast-paced environment. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to showcase your hospitality skills and grow within the food and beverage industry. Responsibilities Prepare and serve a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages accurately and efficiently, ensuring quality standards are met. Use POS systems such as Toast POS to process orders, handle cash transactions, and manage tabs with precision. Engage with guests in a friendly, energetic manner to create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages repeat visits. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, adhering to food safety and food handling regulations at all times. Manage time effectively during busy hours by prioritizing drink orders, serving multiple tables or patrons simultaneously, and ensuring timely service. Upsell menu items including specialty cocktails, beers, wines, and food offerings to maximize sales opportunities. Follow all responsible alcohol service policies and verify guest age using proper identification techniques. Follow orders and answer directly to Bar Manager Qualifications Proven experience as a bartender in VFWs, American Legions, nightclubs, or banquet settings is highly preferred. Veteran status is a plus. Familiarity with POS systems such as Aloha POS or Micros POS is essential for efficient order processing. Strong customer service skills with the ability to engage guests positively and handle diverse situations professionally. Excellent time management skills to balance multiple orders during peak hours without compromising quality or service speed. Knowledge of food safety standards, food handling procedures, and proper alcohol service protocols. Basic math skills for cash handling, retail math calculations, and accurate billing. Previous experience in food service or hospitality environments that involve catering or food industry operations is advantageous.
