This role blends creativity, product knowledge, and genuine hospitality to craft drinks that reflect the luxury standards of the Appellation brand. As the Lead Bartender, you will be responsible for preparing and serving beverages to guests in a professional, efficient, and engaging manner. You will also help maintain a well-stocked and clean bar, support the beverage team with inventory control, and ensure that every guest feels welcomed and well-cared for. Additionally, you will be the point person for the bartending team on cocktail and menu development, SOPs, and organization.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide warm, attentive, and knowledgeable service to guests at the bar, in the dining room, and in the poolside area as needed. Prepare and serve classic and specialty cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and guest preferences. Engage with guests in a friendly and professional manner, sharing beverage suggestions, describing featured drinks, and offering pairings with the food menu. Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the bar area, including bar tops, stools, glassware, tools, and equipment. Accurately enter orders into the POS system, process payments, and follow cash handling procedures. Monitor and replenish bar stock levels during service, ensuring all items are properly rotated and stored. Assist with bar opening and closing duties, including restocking, cleaning, and completing relevant checklists. Perform regular inventory counts of bar supplies and notify the Manager of any needs or discrepancies. Maintain knowledge of all hotel food and beverage menus, including ingredients and preparation methods. Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation policies, including local and state alcohol service laws. Uphold the highest standards of hospitality and service excellence, ensuring every guest leaves with a positive, memorable experience. Assist in training new bar team members, as directed. Participate in bar-related events, promotions, and tastings as required. Assist in closing of bar and restaurant outlets as scheduled. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Manager.
Skills & Qualifications:
Previous experience as a lead bartender in an upscale restaurant, luxury hotel, or high-volume bar environment required. Knowledge of classic cocktails, wine varietals, beer styles, and proper beverage service techniques. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and professionalism. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a natural ability to connect with guests and colleagues. Creative, with a passion for crafting new cocktails and sharing beverage knowledge. Familiarity with POS systems and basic computer skills. Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift bar supplies and beverage cases. Valid RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) certification or ability to obtain upon hire. A positive, team-oriented attitude and a commitment to delivering world-class hospitality.
