Job Description
Cafe Vivant is looking for a bartender to join our dining room and beverage team. Located in downtown Menlo Park, Cafe Vivant is a modern fine dining restaurant built around heritage poultry, hyper-seasonal cooking, exceptional wine, and warm, unpretentious hospitality. Our work is rooted in precision without stiffness: thoughtful service, beautiful ingredients, and a genuine desire to make guests feel cared for. Our beverage program is wine-led and low-proof by design. Rather than building cocktails around spirits, we work with vermouth, sherry, amaro, sake, fortified wine, cider, beer, aromatized wine, seasonal produce, teas, ferments, and other expressive ingredients to create drinks that are elegant, food-friendly, and connected to the rhythm of the menu. We are looking for someone who is creative, composed, and hospitality-minded. The right candidate should enjoy working in a focused restaurant environment, care about details, and understand that great bartending is as much about awareness, timing, and generosity as it is about technique. Responsibilities Prepare and serve low-proof cocktails, wines by the glass, aperitifs, and non-alcoholic beverages Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient bar Support a polished dinner service with warmth, urgency, and attention to detail Collaborate with the beverage, service, and kitchen teams Engage guests with confidence, humility, and genuine hospitality Learn and speak thoughtfully about our beverage program, ingredients, and seasonal offerings Qualifications Bartending or strong beverage service experience Sincere interest in wine, low-ABV cocktails, aperitif culture, and seasonal ingredients Calm, organized presence during service Respect for cleanliness, preparation, and consistency Fine dining experience is welcome, but not required. More important is a thoughtful approach to hospitality, a strong work ethic, and excitement about being part of a restaurant with a clear point of view.
