POSITION PURPOSE
The Pool Bartender will be responsible for preparing and mixing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for servers and guests in a speedy, efficient, friendly, and professional manner while providing exceptional customer service at the Pool Bar. The ideal candidate should have a strong knowledge of mixology, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner, providing outstanding customer service. Assist and take orders from Pool Servers and Poolside Guest in selecting beverages from the menu. Prepare and serve a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages promptly and accurately, following standard recipes and hotel guidelines. Upsell and promote daily specials, cocktails, and other beverages to enhance the guest experience. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pool bar area, including bar counters, equipment, and supplies. Stock and replenish the bar inventory by monitoring levels of beverages, garnishes, and other supplies. Handle cash and credit card transactions accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper reconciliation at the end of each shift. Ensure compliance with all liquor laws, health, and safety regulations. Engage with guests, anticipate their needs, and provide recommendations and suggestions based on their preferences. Resolve guest complaints or issues promptly and professionally, escalating to management when necessary. Collaborate with Pool Staff, to ensure smooth operations and exceptional guest service. Attend and actively participate in training sessions and staff meetings as required. Perform other duties as assigned by Management.
Other:
Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Baia Beach Club/Mondrian South Beach rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel's facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS
In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel. Assist servers, other bartenders, and barbacks when necessary. Participate in the deep cleaning of the outlet.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. Must possess basic computational ability. Must possess basic computer skills. Must have knowledge of and be able to operate all equipment related to the outlet, including, but not limited to, coffee maker and cash terminal. Must have a strong knowledge of drink preparation and applicable health standards. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, ordinances and regulations and Baia Beach Club/Mondrian South Beach policy regarding serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Most work tasks are performed indoors. The temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems; however, must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F), possibly for one hour or more. Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for up to 4 hours in length. Must be able to exert well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously. May be required to lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 30 lbs. Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift 40 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis and occasionally lift up to 75 lbs. Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally. Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space. Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning tasks. Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity. Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees. Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment, including, but not limited to, cutlery used in the cutting of fruit.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Must be minimum age to serve alcohol. Previous experience as a bartender in a fast-paced bar or restaurant environment is preferred. Extensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer, including their preparation and presentation. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with guests and team members. Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to anticipate guest needs and deliver personalized experiences. Ability to work well under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Basic math skills for handling cash transactions, calculating bills, and making change. Excellent time management and organizational skills to ensure efficient service. Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to the food and beverage industry. Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education:
High school or equivalent education required.
Experience:
One to two (1-2) years of high-volume bar experience required. Customer service experience preferred.
Grooming:
All employees must maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance per Baia Beach Club/Mondrian South Beach standards.
