Full Job Description:
1. Customer Service & Bar Operations Greet members and guests in a friendly and professional manner. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages according to Post 665 standards. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area throughout the shift. Monitor guest behavior and follow all responsible alcohol service guidelines. Provide basic food service support when needed. 2. Cash Handling & POS Operation Operate the Toast POS system accurately for all transactions. Maintain an accurate cash drawer and follow all cash‑handling procedures. Complete end‑of‑shift reports, counts, and reconciliation as assigned. 3. Safety, Sanitation & Compliance Follow all state alcohol service laws and Post 665 policies. Clean and sanitize bar surfaces, equipment, and glassware regularly. Restock beverages, garnishes, and supplies as needed. Report safety concerns, equipment issues, or incidents to the Canteen Manager promptly. 4. Professional Conduct & Standards Refrain from alcohol consumption before or during scheduled shifts. Maintain a clean, neat, and professional appearance. No smoking or tobacco use in bar or food service areas. Maintain a positive and respectful environment; avoid negative or inappropriate conversations about the Post. Personal cell phone use is limited to emergencies. 5. Additional Duties Assist with special events, dinners, and Post functions as needed. Attend staff meetings unless excused by the Canteen Manager or House Committee Chairman. Perform other reasonable duties assigned by management. Required Qualifications Experience using the Toast POS system or the ability to learn new technology quickly. Valid ServSafe Alcohol Certification (or equivalent Responsible Alcohol Service Certification), or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire. Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and end‑of‑shift reconciliation. Availability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events as scheduled. Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs as needed. Commitment to following all VFW Post 665 policies, procedures, and service standards.
