Role:
The Hotel Blackhawk. Must work nights and weekends. The Bartender/Server at The Hotel Blackhawk, Davenport plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by efficiently preparing and serving beverages and food items in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This position requires a blend of excellent customer service, multitasking, and communication skills to ensure guests feel welcomed and valued throughout their visit. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a clean and organized bar and dining area, adhering to all safety and sanitation guidelines. They will collaborate closely with kitchen and management staff to ensure smooth operations and timely service. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the establishment's reputation and customer satisfaction by creating a friendly and enjoyable atmosphere.
Minimum Qualifications:
Legal age to serve alcohol in the United States (typically 18 or 21 depending on state laws). Previous experience as a bartender or server in a restaurant, bar, or similar hospitality setting. Basic knowledge of drink recipes, beverage preparation, and food service. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse customers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in responsible alcohol service (e.g., TIPS, ServSafe Alcohol). Experience with point-of-sale (POS) systems and cash handling procedures. Knowledge of craft cocktails, wine, and beer varieties. Ability to multitask effectively in a high-volume environment. Bilingual skills to assist a broader range of customers.
Responsibilities:
Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, taking beverage and food orders accurately. Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks according to standardized recipes and customer preferences. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, dining area, and service stations throughout the shift. Handle cash and electronic payments accurately, ensuring proper billing and change. Monitor guest behavior to ensure responsible alcohol consumption and intervene when necessary. Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate food orders and ensure timely delivery to guests. Restock bar inventory and supplies as needed during and after shifts. Adhere to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations to maintain a safe environment for guests and staff.
