We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bartneder / Manager to join our front of house team for a soon-to-open restaurant in Elkhart, IL just 20 minutes outside of Springfield IL. Our concept is housed in an old historic building with a small, intimate, bar & dining space with a exposed brick and wood accents, featuring a German / Bavarian influence with steaks, potatoes and other comfort food. This is a unique opportunity to be part of something from the ground up and help shape the hospitality culture from day one. Owners are experienced and successful in other ventures. Bartending Duties Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Provide excellent customer service and maintain a friendly atmosphere. Verify customer age and follow alcohol service laws. Take food and beverage orders accurately. Maintain cleanliness of the bar, equipment, and service areas. Monitor guest behavior and handle intoxicated patrons appropriately. Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, and supplies. Management Duties Supervise bartenders, servers, and support staff. Create employee schedules and manage labor costs. Train, coach, and evaluate staff performance. Handle customer complaints and resolve issues professionally. Manage bar inventory, ordering, and liquor vendor relationships. Ensure compliance with health, safety, and liquor regulations. Monitor sales, cash handling, and daily financial reports. Assist with promotions, events, and marketing initiatives. Open and close the establishment according to company procedures. RequirementsEducation & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous bartending experience (2-5 years preferred). Supervisory or management experience preferred. Bartending certification or alcohol service certification BASSETT required. Skills Strong leadership and team management abilities. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Knowledge of cocktails, beer, wine, and beverage trends. Experience with POS systems and cash handling. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. Strong organizational and inventory management abilities. Physical Requirements Ability to stand for extended periods. Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs. Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays. Comfortable working in a busy, fast paced environment. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing bars or restaurants. Knowledge of local liquor laws and regulations. Experience with scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
