Time Out Market- Barback SUMMARY The Barback plays a vital supporting role in delivering an exceptional guest experience by ensuring the bar operates smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with all health and safety standards. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar environment, including restocking liquor, beer, wine, ice, glassware, and garnishes before, during, and after service. The ideal candidate is a dependable, energetic team player who takes pride in a clean workspace, thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, and demonstrates a positive, service-first attitude toward guests and colleagues alike.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Assists with opening and closing duties, such as restocking the bar with garnishes, straws, and napkins, ensuring that bartenders have clean towels, glassware, etc. Ensure all juices and mixers are labeled and ready before service begins Delivers product and use transfer sheets to maintain inventory integrity Cleans, sanitizes, and maintains appearance of workstations and guest service areas Ensures bar remains well-stocked with ice, liquor, wine, and beer Checks taps and appliances to ensure that they are working properly and changing out kegs Keeps the bar clean by wiping down surfaces, sweeping and mopping, removing soiled glassware, scrubbing coolers and storage areas, and emptying trash receptacles Maintains excellent guest service and a positive demeanor towards guests, customers, clients, co-workers, etc. Adheres to safety policies and procedures including proper food safety and sanitation Sanitation & Cleaning:
Polish glassware, maintains cleanliness, bus the bar top, remove trash, and mop spills promptly to maintain a clean environment in compliance with local health codes OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide bartender support by assisting during , pour water, run simple drinks, and expedite food to help keep service moving smoothly during peak service hours Other duties as assigned. COMPETENCIES A

Prior experience in a fast-paced food and beverage, restaurant, or hospitality environment preferred Experience working in a team-oriented, high-volume service setting Familiarity with bar setup, breakdown, and restocking procedures Basic knowledge of bar terminology, common spirits, beer, and wine categories Knowledge of proper ice handling, storage, and sanitation practices Familiarity with bar equipment (blenders, draft beer systems, glass washers, speed rails) Knowledge of proper cleaning procedures for bar surfaces, drains, and equipment Awareness of health department standards as they apply to bar environments-Preferred Understanding of inventory management basics and how to identify low-stock items- Preferred WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to stand for extended periods throughout the shift Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
