Nestled in the back of The Siren Hotel, Candy Bar serves up hand crafted libations by Detroit's best bartenders. Tufted pink banquettes and red velvet seats coupled with a glass chandelier and spinning disco ball make this hideaway the most coveted seat in Detroit. Ash designs, develops, owns, and operates a very special collection of properties that seek to create a more inspired world. Honing in on the spirit of a place, Ash sees what's there and what wants to be, and then creates space for new stories to unfold. Role is $14/HR + Tips Position Summary The Bartender Position is responsible for ensuring guests' enjoyment in Candy Bar. You should be organized, able to think and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure. Be guest sensitive and possess a sense of timing. Take pride in personal appearance and show dedication to your job. Display integrity and honesty in all aspects of your employment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Welcomes each guest personally using enthusiastic words, tone, and body language at all times Makes guests feel appreciated through your actions Works as a team with all personnel in order to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service Works with others to keep all areas always cleaned and stocked to the Company's standards Strong knowledge of spirits and wines Bring a sense of creativity to drink mixing and ability to create / invent new cocktails Mixes, garnishes, and serves alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for patrons of bar and dining room following standard recipes Inputs drink orders into computer immediately, collects money from guests for drinks served and makes change Arranges bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display Washes and sterilizes stemware Counts drinks guests are served and track open bar tabs Anticipates Guest's needs and follow the half-full rule when offering another drink; remains alert of Guest signals (raising a hand, looking directly at you, etc.), and acknowledges Guest so they know you will be right with them Responsibly serves alcohol and remains aware of guests' state of intoxication Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Be of legal age to serve alcohol TIPS Certified Ability to pass Responsible Service of Alcohol Test with a score of 85% or better Basic mathematical skills and an ability to handle money and give correct change Advanced knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits, and be familiar with standard drink recipes Excellent communication skills Cash handling and basic accounting Organizational skills Multi-task oriented Knowledge of Company's food and beverage specifications Knowledge of workplace safety procedures We are seeking a candidate who: Will be passionate about providing exceptional service according to ASH brand standards A passion for world-class food, beverage, and service The ability to guide guests through the menu, being knowledgeable of all offerings, including questions regarding the food, bar, beer, coffee, and wine selections Pays extraordinary attention to detail, meets deadlines, follows up and through A meticulous attention to detail regarding cleanliness, and in providing an engaging, knowledgeable, and well-timed guest experience. Is a creative problem solver that takes a hands on approach to finding solutions and excels at understanding and clarifying issues within the hotel and staff Has impeccable interpersonal skills that demonstrate experience in employee relations and recruiting Has experience in the field of hospitality Has exceptional communication skills - there is no such thing as over communicating Works well in a team environment and naturally exudes professionalism Is an effective listener who is able to effectively resolve conflicts in a fair and direct manner - nothing slips through the cracks Can work well under stress or in high-pressure situations
