We offer warm, attentive service in a vibrant yet relaxed atmosphere. Our menu features seafood, slow-roasted meats, handmade pizzas, and vegetarian dishes from our wood-fired oven. We also offer local and regional craft beer, select spirits, and a thoughtful wine list that features regional South American selections. La Mesa is a small owner-operated neighborhood restaurant where hospitality, professionalism, and relationships matter. Many of our guests are regulars who return because of the experience our team creates together. We value teamwork, initiative, and a genuine commitment to caring for guests and supporting one another. Our Server/Bartender position is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, takes pride in their work, and thrives as part of a small, highly-collaborative team.
What We're Looking For:
Minimum two years full-service restaurant experience, including alcohol service Strong knowledge of food, wine, beer, and classic wine service Ability to think clearly and communicate calmly in fast-paced situations Professionalism, patience, reliability, a strong work ethic and excellent attention to detail Confidence guiding guests through menu and beverage selections Knowledge of spirits preferred, as well as cocktail ingredients and techniques Sincerely enjoy being of service to others
Additional Requirements:
Tuesday through Saturday evening availability We operate with a small, close-knit team. Reliable attendance is essential, and team members are expected to actively participate in finding coverage and schedule coordination when conflicts arise. While schedules are generally consistent, flexibility is occasionally required to meet business needs. Ability to stand for the length of the shift and lift up to 40 pounds Must be at least 18 years of age with reliable transportation
Responsibilities:
Learn how and why we do things and apply standards consistently. We welcome thoughtful questions and observations that support the experience we have cultivated for our team and our guests. Ensure guests receive professional, welcoming service from arrival through departure. Guide guests through food and beverage selections. Prepare and serve all beverages for your assigned tables, including cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages, according to established recipes and house standards. Maintain awareness of the dining room as a whole, anticipate guest and team needs, check in as appropriate, and respond thoughtfully.
