Job Description

Job Summary The General Riley House is a unique speakeasy/ cocktail lounge operating out of an historic building in East Aurora. We serve classic cocktails as well as fine wines, beer and small plates. We are open three days per week - Thursday, Friday, Saturday- from 5:00-10:00 PM. We also host special events in our "sunroom." We are seeking a dynamic and personable Bartender, Server, Barback to join our high functioning team in serving our upstairs lounges. This role is essential in creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests, ensuring smooth bar operations, and delivering outstanding product and exceptional customer service. The successful candidate would work two nights per week- Friday and Saturdays beginning at 4:00 PM - and have opportunities to work at special events or assist in filling staff absences. In addition to hourly wages, the candidate will be able to share in ample customer gratuities/tips. The ideal candidate will have experience in food and beverage service including cocktail creation and bar operations and possess excellent communication skills, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. Prior experience with beverage preparation, POS systems such as Toast, and food handling is highly desirable. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills within the food industry and hospitality sectors. Duties Provide table service to guests by providing menu details, taking and delivering orders Prepare alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages efficiently as a bartender, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met. Assist with cleaning and maintaining the bar area, including glassware, utensils, and work surfaces. Restock bar supplies, garnishes, and inventory to ensure smooth service during shifts. Support bartenders by bussing the bar and tables, cleaning up spills, and managing customer needs promptly. Handle cash transactions accurately using the Toast POS system. Provide excellent customer service by engaging with guests professionally and courteously. Maintain cleanliness standards in compliance with health regulations, including food handling procedures. Support catering events or banquet functions by serving beverages and assisting with setup or breakdown as required. Qualifications Previous experience in food service, restaurant work, or hospitality environments such as nightclubs, hotels, or catering is preferred. Familiarity with POS systems including Toast is preferred. Experience with bussing tables, serving at banquets or catering events is advantageous. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. Knowledge of cleaning procedures related to food handling and beverage service is required. Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly. Must be personable, professional, adaptable under pressure, and committed to delivering outstanding customer service.
