Job Description
Position Summary The West Side Tennis Club is seeking an experienced, energetic, and member-focused Bartender to join our Food & Beverage team. The ideal candidate is passionate about hospitality, enjoys building relationships with members, and takes pride in delivering exceptional service in a private club setting. As a Bartender at The West Side Tennis Club, you are an ambassador of the Club and an integral part of the member experience. You will be expected to demonstrate professionalism, warmth, and a positive attitude while creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for members and guests. A successful Bartender builds relationships with members, learns and remembers their preferences, answers questions, recommends food and beverage offerings, and prepares and serves drinks with consistency and attention to detail. You will also contribute to beverage program development, promote featured menu items, maintain proper bar operations, and uphold the highest standards of service and hospitality. To excel in this role, you should possess a polished appearance, strong interpersonal skills, a genuine passion for hospitality, and the ability to create memorable experiences through exceptional service. This is a full-time position requiring a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. While schedules may vary based on Club operations, events, and seasonal demands, most weekday shifts are expected to run approximately 3:00 PM to 12:00 AM . Candidates should expect a rotating schedule with a combination of weekday and weekend shifts throughout the year. Responsibilities Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, coffee beverages, and other drinks according to Club standards. Provide warm, attentive, and personalized service to members and guests. Learn member preferences and make thoughtful beverage recommendations. Discuss daily specials, featured cocktails, and food and beverage pairings. Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar area. Verify age requirements and ensure responsible alcohol service. Accurately process payments and maintain proper cash handling procedures. Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs. Assist with Club events, banquets, tournaments, weddings, and special functions as needed. Work collaboratively with servers, managers, and fellow team members to ensure exceptional member experiences. Follow all Club policies, health regulations, and safety procedures. Perform opening, closing, and side work duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of bartending experience in a restaurant, private club, hotel, or high-volume hospitality setting. Experience preparing craft cocktails and working with fresh, seasonal ingredients. Coffee and espresso experience is a plus. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Professional appearance and positive attitude. Ability to multitask while maintaining accuracy and consistency in a fast-paced environment. Must be available to work a flexible full-time schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Comfortable working a rotating schedule, with shifts varying based on Club needs, special events, tournaments, weddings, and concert-season operations. TIPS Certification preferred (or willingness to obtain). Experience with POS systems preferred. Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to work on your feet for up to 8 hours or more. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 40 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, kneel, crouch, and move throughout the Club as needed. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Compensation & Benefits Starting wage of $17.50 per hour . Bartenders are eligible for additional earnings through a 20% automatic service charge applied to all beverage sales , distributed in accordance with Club policy. Whilst on duty in our Houses & Restaurants you will be provided with a substantial meal free of charge.
