Bartender

Mavericks Montauk is seeking a highly motivated, organized, and experienced bartender. While reporting to the Head Bartender, Assistant General Manager and the General Manager, Bartenders are responsible for production of all beverage orders coming from the dining room guests and must have a high level of food and menu knowledge to be able to support the team on the floor, answer questions from guests regarding beverage selections, and be leaders on our service team.

Responsibilities Include:

Create a welcoming and hospitable environment for all guests at the bar. Demonstrate sound knowledge of specialty and classic cocktails (ingredients, specs, build), wine, beer, and beverage offerings. Maintain fluency in all menu items and ingredients with the ability to suggest beverage pairings. Follow proper steps of service with grace, while maintaining a sense of urgency throughout service. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including the seating area. Communicate effectively with staff members, management, and the kitchen during service. Demonstrate expertise of all food and beverage menu items with sound knowledge of all ingredients and preparations. Anticipate guest needs, ensuring constant communication with colleagues, management, and the kitchen at all times during service. Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and appearance throughout all areas of the restaurant both before, during and after service. Alert management to great guests, big spenders, distributors, and anyone else you think wants extra attention. Ensure accuracy of guest checks in the POS system and promptly process payments. Ensure that all cash is handled correctly, and that correct change is given. Close out all cash checks for the floor in a prompt manner. Complete end of night closing check out. Notify management to any pertinent information related to the shift. Follow all responsible alcohol practices, including carding all guests who appear under the age of 40. Follow all health department procedures, including best practice notes that can be found behind the bar. Demonstrate an eagerness to continue to learn and grow.
