Job Description
Position Summary The On-Call Banquet Bartender is responsible for providing exceptional beverage service during banquet events, meetings, weddings, social gatherings, and special functions. This position ensures guests receive prompt, professional, and friendly service while maintaining compliance with all alcohol service regulations and hotel standards. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, as shifts are based on business demands and event schedules. Essential Job Functions Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for banquet events in accordance with established recipes and standards. Provide outstanding guest service in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner. Set up and break down banquet bars before and after events. Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of all bar areas and equipment. Verify guest identification and ensure responsible alcohol service in compliance with local and state laws. Accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and banquet consumption records when applicable. Restock liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, and supplies as needed. Work closely with banquet captains, servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure successful event execution. Monitor guest needs and respond promptly to requests or concerns. Follow all hotel safety, sanitation, and beverage control policies and procedures. Assist with additional banquet responsibilities as assigned by management. Qualifications Previous bartending experience preferred, ideally in banquet, hotel, restaurant, or event settings. Knowledge of standard drink recipes, bar operations, and beverage presentation. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail. Excellent communication and guest service skills. Must meet minimum age requirements to serve alcohol in accordance with state law. Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, holidays, and late-night events. TIPS, ABLE, or other alcohol service certification preferred or required based on local regulations. Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds. Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and move throughout banquet and storage areas. Ability to work in crowded and fast-paced event environments. Work Environment This position operates primarily in banquet and event spaces and may involve indoor and outdoor functions. Work schedules are based on event needs and business levels.
