Job Description
Who We ArePacific Standard is a modern West Coast drinking and dining hall created by bartenders Jeffrey Morgenthaler and Benjamin Amberg, who have envisioned Pacific Standard as Portland s living room, embracing both locals and travelers alike, nestled in the intimate surroundings of the KEX Hotel. Our hotel bar sits in the KEX Hotel lobby, filled with leather lounges, soft window light and 150 seats. The lobby bar is both a destination and treasured haunt that provides a convenient meeting place in the heart of the Central Eastside.
At Pacific Standard, the cocktails are rooted in the classics, specifically inspired by the world's great hotel bars throughout history. Some of our takes, like our Terra Firma and our 68 Olympic, are originals that haven't been seen elsewhere yet. Our beers and wines will be from the many small, local producers we've developed relationships with over our decades running bars in Portland and Eugene and are all exclusively served on draft. -Jeffrey Morgenthaler, Pacific Standard Co-Owner.
The duo, Jeffrey and Benjamin, have successfully brought a host of awards to their previous haunts Clyde Common and Pepe Le Moko including the coveted Best American Restaurant Bar and Hotel Bar. The beverage program at Clyde Common garnered seven James Beard nominations for Outstanding Bar Program.
The food menu at our bar consists of substantial West Coast inspired offerings. Items are ordered from the bartenders, prepared by talented cooks in a beautiful open kitchen, and delivered to tables via our skilled food runners. No reservations are taken, and all seating is open. Much like the name of the concept implies, our hotel bar has certain standards and expectations regarding all things product and service oriented. The right candidate will be someone who works well in a team environment, is motivated, and wants to have a rewarding time at work with a professional group of like-minded people. POSITION SUMMARY
This Full Time Position will be responsible for quickly and accurately preparing drink orders for guests. They will maintain a clean work space and contribute to a positive work environment for staff and guests. Effective communication is paramount. An elevated language and sense of establishment is a must. Ideal candidates are looking for more than a stepping stone in the service industry, to be a part in a broader team of hospitality professionals and ultimately driven to be involved in the context of something larger than all of us. Minimum 1 Year Bartender experienceEasy to work with and solution orientedCapacity to make drinks efficiently and to standard in a high volume, fast paced environmentAbility to follow oral and written instructions. General knowledge and basic understanding of food & beverage.A strong organizational and communication skillset within a team-focused atmosphere.
