  • The Grill is seeking an experienced, polished, and hospitality-driven Bartender to join our team for the summer season.
This is an opportunity to work in a high-volume luxury waterfront dining environment serving an upscale clientele in one of New England's premier summer destinations. We are looking for professionals who thrive in fast-paced service, demonstrate exceptional cocktail and wine knowledge, and understand the importance of creating memorable guest experiences through genuine hospitality, attention to detail, and strong teamwork. Position Type Full-Time Seasonal Summer Employment Nights, weekends, and holidays required Opportunity for extended or year-round employment based on performance and business needs Key Responsibilities Prepare and serve classic cocktails, signature cocktails, wine, beer, and premium spirits with consistency and precision Deliver elevated guest experiences through engaging, professional, and attentive service Maintain strong knowledge of food menus, wine pairings, cocktail ingredients, and spirit categories Anticipate guest needs while managing multiple service tickets in a high-volume environment Accurately process transactions through POS systems and handle cash responsibly Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar throughout service Follow all Rhode Island alcohol service laws and company policies regarding responsible alcohol service Communicate effectively with servers, management, kitchen staff, and support teams to ensure seamless operations Assist with opening and closing duties including inventory counts, prep work, restocking, and sanitation Uphold luxury hospitality standards in appearance, professionalism, and guest interaction at all times Handle guest concerns professionally and escalate issues appropriately when necessary Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years of bartending experience in upscale, fine dining, luxury hotel, yacht club, or high-volume restaurant environments Strong knowledge of craft cocktails, classic cocktails, wine, beer, and premium spirits Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining composure and hospitality standards Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong multitasking and organizational abilities Team-oriented mindset with a positive and professional attitude Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays throughout the summer season Must meet all legal age requirements for alcohol service in Rhode Island TIPS certification or equivalent preferred Preferred Experience Fine dining or luxury hospitality background Extensive wine and spirits knowledge Experience working in seasonal resort markets Familiarity with OpenTable, Toast, or similar hospitality systems Ability to create and execute specialty cocktails Knowledge of waterfront and luxury guest service standards Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment Comfortable working late nights and long shifts during peak summer business What We Offer Competitive hourly pay plus tips High earning potential during peak season Professional and team-oriented work environment Opportunity to work with an established luxury hospitality team Career growth opportunities within hospitality and restaurant operations Prime waterfront location in Newport Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is polished, energetic, dependable, and passionate about hospitality.
