JOB SUMMARY
The position of the lead bartender is to ensure that the bar team provides an excellent guest experience through outstanding customer service, specialty cocktail development, and making recommendations regarding local craft beers and wines offered.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Develop specialty cocktail programs for all of food and beverage. Train the staff on the proper way to mix cocktails and provide ongoing support. Oversee the overall quality control of all cocktail recipes. Prepare alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for bar and restaurant patrons. Interact with bar customers, take orders and serve food and drinks. Assess customers needs, as well as preferences, and make recommendations. Check customers identification and confirm they meet legal drinking age. Stay guest focused and nurture an excellent guest experience. Check in with customers to ensure overall satisfaction. Receive and replenish bar inventory and supplies, as needed. Participate in monthly inventory, as needed, and determine adequate par levels. Embody a strong and efficient work ethic, including, but not limited to ensuring the cleanliness of all bar and guest areas, polishing chinaware (e.g. glassware, plate-ware, silverware), etc. Complete opening/closing duties, follow standards in place, as well as filling out prep/checklist. Adhere to all cash handling policies with the ability to perform credit card charges and provide guests with accurate bills by ringing in all orders accurately at the time of the sale. Comply with all federal, state and local food and beverage laws and regulations.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or equivalent. 2+ years of related experience; Previous experience in an upscale dining and/or bar atmosphere preferred. Relevant training certificate preferred such as TIPS, ServeSafe, etc.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Excellent knowledge of mixing, garnishing and serving drinks. Superior knowledge of classic cocktails, as well as the capability to quickly and efficiently build, shake, and create them for clientele. Knowledge of pour-cost control. Knowledge of upselling techniques Exemplify outstanding communication skills, with the aptitude to create unique experiences for clientele and promote wonderful customer service, as well as work environment. Computer literacy. Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean. Ability to thrive under pressure and perform multiple functions at a time. Ability to be flexible with shift availability and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays based on business demands.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly required to stand and walk for a prolonged period of time, hear, speak, taste, and use motor coordination in combination with hand and arm dexterity to handle, balance, feel, reach, etc. Frequently required to climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift, move, or carry objects up to 25 lbs. Occasionally required to lift, move, or carry objects up to 50 lbs. Must be capable of working effectively in both a hot and cold extreme temperature environment.
