Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW
As a Four Diamond property, The Westin Anaheim Resort is committed to delivering an exceptional, elevated, and highly personalized level of hospitality. The Busser is a universal support role that is integral to the success of the overall guest experience. This position extends beyond traditional bus responsibilities. Team Members are expected to actively support all front-of-house operations, including table maintenance, food running, pre-bussing, and assisting servers. The role requires a strong sense of urgency, situational awareness, and a commitment to maintaining a consistently polished, safe, and well-executed dining environment. A successful Busser demonstrates a team-first, ownership-driven mindset, understanding that every detail contributes to the guest experience and that no task is beneath them in delivering exceptional service. This role requires a proactive, solutions driven mindset, with the understanding that maintaining the environment and supporting the team is a shared responsibility across all positions.
WORK REQUIREMENTS
Responsibilities & Service Expectations Maintain a clean, organized, and fully reset dining environment Execute pre-bussing, clearing, and resetting tables with speed and precisio Support servers and bartenders through food running, beverage delivery, and table maintenance Deliver food accurately and in alignment with presentation standards Anticipate guest and operational needs through strong awareness of dining room flow Refill water, clear plates, and assist guests in a professional and unobtrusive manner Maintain cleanliness and stock of all service stations and guest-facing areas Respond immediately to spills, resets, and service needs Assist with opening and closing duties to ensure operational readiness Follow all sanitation, safety, and food handling procedures Support all areas of the operation as needed to ensure seamless guest experience Service & Behavioral Standards (combined to eliminate repetition) Maintain a polished, professional presence always Move with purpose and efficiency while remaining composed Demonstrate strong spatial awareness and avoid disruption to guests Communicate clearly and respectfully with team members and guests Operate with a team-first mindset, supporting all roles as needed Take ownership of assigned areas, ensuring they remain clean, organized, and aligned Safety & Sanitation Standards Always maintain a clean and hazard-free environment Immediately address spills, broken glass, and unsafe conditions Follow proper lifting and handling procedures to prevent injury Keep all walkways, service areas, and exit clear and unobstructed Properly handle and transport dishware, glassware, and equipment Follow all chemical handling and sanitation guidelines Report any safety concerns or incidents to management immediately Availability & Scheduling Expectations Full-time team members must maintain open and flexible availability based on operational needs Part-time team members must be available for a minimum of three (3) shifts per week Weekend availability is mandatory, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, as well as all holidays Availability must remain consistent for a minimum of six (6) months All availability changes require Department Head approval Qualifications & Requirements Experience in a high-volume or upscale dining environment preferred Ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced environment Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to multitask and support multiple areas of the operation Professional and team-oriented mindset Understanding of sanitation and food safety standards Must have full-time availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays Food Handler's Certification required Performance Expectations Maintain cleanliness and organization of all dining areas Support efficient service flow and table turns Demonstrate reliability, consistency, and accountability Contribute to a positive, team-driven work environment Remain coachable and open to feedback
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job it will require: Must be able to tolerate temperature changes from hot to cold and cold to hot. Must be able to tolerate noise and vibration and a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, working on scaffolding and high places. Sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally. Frequently, use hands for keyboard and arms to reach. Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 100 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary at times throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding. Additional Requirements Minimum of 2-3 years in a full-service hotel, restaurant or high-profile bar. Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays Must possess a high level of high-quality standards & organization Complete knowledge and understanding of the service industry, policies and procedures to include sanitation. Proficiency working with various computer programs including but not limited to Micros and Microsoft Office Suite.
